Canadian Tax Deadlines in 2024

Another year is done and the 2024 is here!
Here’s a quick overview of important dates for Canadian tax filing in 2024:
You can technically start filing taxes online on this day, but most people won’t have all of their tax documents and receipts lined up just yet.
If you were employed by a company (ie. you’re not a self-employed contractor) they should be sending you a T4 on or before this date.
Worried about retirement? Worried about paying too much in taxes? You have until this day to make a contribution to your retirement fund and have it reduce your taxable income for 2023.
Make sure your taxes are done on time! Preferably before this date to avoid penalties. Any balances owed to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) are due on this day.

Business tax returns are always due six months after the end of your fiscal year. If you have a fiscal year end that isn’t December 31st, your filing deadline will be on a different date!
